Earlier this month, ABC terminated Better With You but reliable reports have it that Kat Likkel and John Hoberg have commenced work on another show.

Their new show will likely be based on My Formerly Hot Life which is the memoir of Stephanie Dolgoff.

The show is said to be a humorous view at a woman’s life that is just coming to terms with the reality that she’s not 21 anymore.

Hope & Faith and Better Off Ted are some other projects that Likkel and Hobert have formerly collaborated on.

The project is expected to be executive produced by Dolgoff.

The sitcom is the story of a normal family of Putneys. The main characters Ben and Maddle are in a relationship. They have been dating each other for a long time and are in no hurry to marry. The question of marrying arises when it is revealed that Maddie’s sister is pregnant by her new boyfriend and they decide not to delay their marriage any longer. Maddie’s parents have no objection to the idea. Instead, they are glad to hear this. Jake Lacy, Debra Jo Rupp, Joanna Garcia, Kurt Fuller, Jennifer Finnigan and Josh Cooke are the main stars on Better with You.

Sandwiched between two established sitcoms Modern Family and The Middle, Better with You couldn’t match them in number of viewers. When the series made its debut in September last year, about 7.86 million pairs of eyes balls were in front of the TV screens and the show got a rating of 2.5 in the demographic range 18-49. The number of viewers declined slightly in the subsequent weeks but the numbers were still respectable. It was just that they didn’t compare well to the other shows and ABC found that many of the viewers were switching to other channels when Better with You began.

As if that wasn’t enough, the show got tough competition when American Idol kicked off. The number of viewers declined to merely 4.64 million viewers and ratings dropped to 1.5. In contrast, The Middle, which got even tougher competition performed much better.

At first the ABC had plans to bring out a second season. But with these ratings, they have decided not to carry on with it and instead want to give a try to a new sitcom.

The first season of Better with You comprised of 22 episodes and all of them have been aired. The season finale was broadcast recently and it is titled ‘Better with Baby.’

In the meantime, the counselor who was her old guide advised Maddie that she should be an attorney when Maddie went to her after quitting the job. After becoming a lawyer as per the advice, she got a proposal for being a partner to her old firm but she did not accept it. Due to the reason that she never wanted to be a lawyer and neither was it her passion she did not want to be a lawyer further. She was in search of a job that would be liked by her and she could praise about it as did Ben with his job.

This night it was the best episode of the entire season including the trick of Joel for getting discounts and Vicky was the one who was perfect. The story of Maddie was also very genuine as that of real life. All around, it was a great show this week.

The finale of the season of Better with you will be the next week. It might also be the finale of the series though it is not confirmed by ABC whether the show will be taken for the next season till now.

Mia and Casey realize that they want to be married before their baby is born, so the entire family rushes to make things happen: Ben and Casey rush to get a marriage license, Maddie has to find a priest, and Vicky and Joel have to find the appropriate items to complete the ceremony.

Joel brushes up his bargaining skills as he tries to get Mia the most perfect baby stroller. Maddie worries that she has lost the passion to be a lawyer now that she is unemployed.

Joel tries to prepare for the wedding toast but is having difficulty with crying. Ben learns about it and tries to find a way to make Joel cry to get back at him for ridiculing him in the past when he cried after his old dog.

One could witness the clashes between the six completely evolved characters. The accent is not put on the complexity of the characters, but on a few defining characteristics which are magnified up to a ridi-culous extent in each case. This week’s episode entitled Better Without a Job revolves around lies told to parents. One can see a complex web of lies woven. First, Maddie lies in order to conceal the fact that she had been laid off, due to her over bursting pride. Mia holds back the truth for her own egoistic rea-sons, even though one can watch a whole parade focused on her moral correctness. Mia’s boyfriend, Casey, reveals that a book of stories for children considered a family relic really is worth a fortune. The two daughters take lying to a “higher” level due to the support from their partners.

Eventually, to everyone’s surprise, the book proves to have racist content. This unleashes a new wave of lies. Mia, attempting to avoid being considered negative in any kind of way, unveils the book’s flaw to the buyer and cancels the deal. What’s more, some unethical secrets seem to arise regarding Vicky “racial correctness”, based on the controversies surrounding the content of the book.

One must admit that the characters are deeply controversial, too. Despite of their serious flaws, their likeability seems too reach the sky due to the fun moments they provide to the viewers, just like nu-merous other sitcoms. Maybe people enjoy these flawed characters because they make the viewers feel better about themselves or possibly even superior to the characters.

Casey and Mia take a dancing class for the wedding, where Casey comes upon the conclusion that Mia is a really bad dancer and decides to pretend he is an even lousier dancer to make Mia feel better. Ben asks Larry King for advice on how to handle a fight he had with Maddie over Joel and Vicky.

Meanwhile, Joel and Vicky come to a conclusion that they can save some money during the engagement party by promoting Joel’s campaign for becoming a treasurer at their country club.

Meanwhile, Vicky gives Casey and Mia an old children’s book which confuses them, as they believe there is a deeper meaning behind it.
